Dimapur, June 24 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) on Wednesday strongly rejected the Union Home Ministry’s recent order under F. No. 11011/24/2026/NIA, stating it an “accusation wrapped in the language of authority.” It denied any involvement in the alleged act of “destruction of poppy fields, exchange of fire or related deaths mentioned in the order.”In a statement issued by its MIP, the NSCN (IM) said that the Government’s order was “not a statement of facts” but “presumption over proof and narrative over evidence. That is not investigation; it is insinuation.” It asserted that any claim linking the group to the incident was unsubstantiated and appeared designed to prejudice public opinion before a fair and independent inquiry. The group also clarified that it is not a “terrorist or banned organisation under Indian law.” It reminded the Government of India of its commitments under the November 18, 2002 Milan MoU, which it described as “an instrument to secure peace and dignity for communities scarred by decades of conflict.” It also urged the GoI to act “decisively, transparently and in good faith” to honour its obligations under the Milan MoU.The NSCN (IM) further rejected the order in its entirety and condemned the “reckless attempt to manufacture guilt without proof,” adding that in a conflict-ridden region, “truth must not be sacrificed at the altar of convenience.”
